About this course

Are you unsure about the Journal Editors' Code of Conduct? Dislike reading lengthy documents, but keen to learn about the key concepts in an informative and engaging manner? This course is designed and written for Editors-in-Chief, to help you understand the basic principles of the Journal Editors' Code of Conduct, and also to test your understanding of some tricky scenarios you may face in the course of your editorship.

Who should take this course?

This course has been written with Editors-in-Chief in mind, and all Editors-in-Chief should take this course to ensure they are familiar and comfortable with the Journal Editors' Code of Conduct. However, it may also be useful for any Editor who handles manuscripts for a journal and thus all Editors are welcome to take this course. You can take this course in one go or at your own pace, as it is fine to leave and return to it at another time.

What will I learn in this course?

You will be taken through the fundamental concepts of the Journal Editors' Code of Conduct to ensure you understand the basic principles of editorial policies, manuscript handling (including peer review and decision making), conflicts of interest, libellous and defamatory material, field-specific policies and post publication issues. You will be presented with interactive questions and exercises to challenge yourself on how to navigate difficult situations.
